Growing concern for our environment is a significant influence on my present work and this has led me to explore the qualities of recycled materials. The process I use to make the beads for my jewellery is Victorian in origin.  I hand roll strips of recycled paper or fabric then glue it in place to make a water resistant bead.  Where the Victorians may have used sombre tones for their beads I like to use bright colours adding little extras along the way to produce funky beads that will catch the eye.  These are then threaded into necklaces, bracelets or earrings which are always unique. The nature of their creation means that no two can ever be exactly the same.

I love the fact that recycling can be so much fun!!

"A recylced metal work bench has allowed me to return to metal working techniques to complement my bead necklaces. Silver and brass are the main metals I use to produce designs inspired by my love of garden birds and the colours and shapes of autumn."
